Nestled in the breathtaking landscape of the Scottish Highlands, the Balmenach distillery has been producing Scotch whisky since 1824 and, for some years now, a special gin. The location in the wild Cairngorm National Park provides the ideal conditions for the growth of five aromatic plants that shape the Celtic character of Balmenach’s handcrafted gin. Gin master Simon Buley harvests these by hand in the immediate vicinity of the distillery. Quite traditionally. Caorunn is as wild and at the same time as lovely as the Scottish landscape. The gin is only produced by hand in small editions. As a special feature and difference to conventional gin production, the selected botanicals are not put on, but in a copper kettle, which comes from the perfume production, by means of steam infusion in a gentle way with the base alcohol married.
