True 25 years of aging make this rum one of the oldest rums on the market. A rum for experts and those who want to be.
Malecon Reserva Imperial 25 years is one of the oldest rums on the market. We are also talking about a real maturation for 25 years in oak barrels here at Malecon. And these make themselves felt. The intensely mature and spicy aromas also please single malt lovers in particular, as the rum can show its facets of wooden barrel aging without added sweetness.
It is the outstanding art of the master blender in Panama to blend the best and oldest barrels to create this little work of art. But beware. This is not a rum to sniff away on the side. Attention is required here. At room temperature, the aroma of the 25-year-old Malecon can develop optimally. As a glass is a glass swivel or a nosing glass as you know it from single malt whiskey. It is fascinating how the rum changes in the glass and, little by little, releases its aromas. In the nose, intense spicy aromas develop first. The oak barrel is clearly noticeable here. They are joined by sweet aromas, tobacco, coffee, dried apricots. The first sip immediately reveals the great age and completely takes over the mouth.
Be sure to let it linger for a few seconds. A nice, natural sweetness makes its way into the mouth and immediately reveals aromas of caramel, dried fruit, coffee and cocoa. An intense spicy oak aroma follows, leaving the rum drier in the finish. A taste that wants to linger almost endlessly and yet prompts the next sip. Congratulations – with this rum you can now hold your own in any expert round.
