Pineapple is a great match for older spirits, and together with tequila it makes a perfect flavor combination. The smoked pineapple adds complexity and smoky notes, slightly reminiscent of mezcal or peat notes from scotch, which are very popular in modern mixology these days.
Rooster Rojo Master Distiller Arturo Fuentes experimented with different pineapple brews and roast levels for over 1 year until he found the perfect varietal and smokiness. Blended with Rooster Rojo Anejo Tequila (aged for at least 12 months in ex-bourbon barrels), the result is exceptional: a smooth but subtle tequila that can be enjoyed neat or on ice, but also in various cocktails.
